I have earned three designations and one certification: - GRI-To get the Graduate Realtor Designation there is a series of 14 real estate specialty classes, totaling 92 hours that you have to take. The classes range from real estate finance, to real estate taxes, to legal issues, tor investment property analysis, etc.
- e-Pro-this designation introduces Realtors to the use of technology in the Real Estate Business.
- CDPE-The Certified Distressed Property Expert helps Realtors develop strategies to help home owners in distress property situations. For example, how to properly package a short sale transaction. It does not mean the Realtor is an expert in the area. Lawyers and accountants that specialize in distressed situations are the experts and always need to be consulted.
- CNE-this certification is designed to help Realtors use a wide range of strategies in negotiating real estate transactions.
The real estate business is changing at a very rapid pace and, I think, education and training is getting to be more important every day. I have committed to getting the needed training and will continue in the future. I also feel that real world experience is helpful. I have run a small construction business since I graduated from UC Davis in 1985. Good service has always been my highest goal and I have gained valuable experience from the home owners and small business owners that my company has served. I have always tried to privide better service for my clients than I expect for myself. My business has also given me the experience and network to renovate homes which I find is a valuable asset in the real estate business. Finally, I have been an investor for many years. I converted my first home to a rental in 2000 and puchased a second rental in 2010. It is possible to buy a home today and have a positibe cash flow right away.
